"Oriundo de uma família de ascendência judaica, Daniel Blaufuks nasceu em Portugal em 1963. Depois de ter estado na Alemanha durante seis anos, regressou a Lisboa onde frequentou, a partir de 1987, o curso de fotografia do Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual (Ar.Co). Já na década de 90, prosseguiu a sua formação no Royal College of Art, em Londres, e no Watermill Center de Nova Iorque. Com um percurso inicial marcado por colaborações, em regime de freelance, em diversas publicações portuguesas (de que se destacam os jornais Independente, Blitz e a revista Marie Claire), distancia-se dos parâmetros então veiculados pelo fotojornalismo, para radicar o seu discurso na intencionalidade da fotografia, progressivamente utilizada como evocativo campo narrativo.

Começa a expor regularmente no início da década de 90 e faz a sua primeira individual na Galeria Ether, depois de receber o “European Kodak Award” (Arles, 1989). Com as séries fotográficas My Tangier (1991), Cinema Paraíso (1991), London Diaries (1994), Uma Viagem a São Petersburgo (1998), Andorra (2000) ou Lisboa, Pessoa, Exílio, Saramago (2001), afirmam-se, progressivamente as características que fundamentam todo o seu universo plástico: a resistência oferecida à tentação de individualizar o assunto da fotografia, optando por sugerir um terreno interpretativo comum que a desvincula de qualquer especificidade."

"Bruno Pelletier Sequeira nasceu em 1966 em Lisboa, onde vive e trabalha. Estudou fotografia na Escola Maumaus em Lisboa entre 1993 e 1995, nessa escola foi também professor e responsável pelos laboratórios entre 1994 e 1997. Na sequência de várias viagens à Índia realizou em 1996 a primeira exposição individual “Sunny Guest House” no Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa, realizou em 2000 na Cordoaria Nacional as exposições individuais “Panjim Inn” e “Modern Lodge”. Foi bolseiro da Fundação Oriente em 1996. Em 1994 e 1997 participou nas exposições colectivas nos Encontros de Fotografia de Coimbra (Itinerários de Fronteira, Língua Franca) e realizou a exposição individual Álbum de Família nos Encontros da Imagem de Braga de 1997. Foi professor de fotografia na Escola António Arroio e no ArCo. fundou o Atelier de Lisboa em 2006 onde é coordenador e professor. Tem trabalhos em várias colecções públicas: Centro Português de Fotografia, Encontros de Fotografia de Coimbra, Galerie du Chateau d’Eau, Arquivo Fotográfico de Lisboa, Encontros da Imagem de Braga, Fundação PLMJ" in Atelier de Lisboa

Bruno Pelletier Sequeira was born in 1966 in Lisbon, where he lives and works. He studied Photography in Maumaus School in Lisbon between 1993 and 1995, At that school he was also teacher and responsabel for the labs. Principal expositions: “Sunny Guest House” in Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa, 1996; “Panjim Inn” e “Modern Lodge” in Cordoaria Nacional, 2000. In 1994 and 1997 participated in "Encontros de Fotografia de Coimbra" and in 1997 in "Encontros da Imagem de Braga" with the exposition "Álbum de Família". He was teacher in Escola António Arroio and Ar.Co. Bruno Pelletier Sequeira has funded "Atelier de Lisboa" in 2006 where he is coordinator and teacher. Henry Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004)

Um dos mais conhecidos e importantes fotógrafos do século XX, esteve preso durante a 2ª Guerra Mundial tendo escapado à terceira tentativa. Em 1947 funda a Agência de Fotografos MAGNUM, ainda hoje a mais prestigiada agência de fotografia do Mundo.

"Born in Chanteloup, Seine-et-Marne, Henri Cartier-Bresson developed a strong fascination with painting early on, and particularly with Surrealism. In 1932, after spending a year in the Ivory Coast, he discovered the Leica - his camera of choice thereafter - and began a life-long passion for photography.

Taken prisoner of war in 1940, he escaped on his third attempt in 1943 and subsequently joined an underground organization to assist prisoners and escapees. In 1945 he photographed the liberation of Paris with a group of professional journalists and then filmed the documentary Le Retour (The Return).

In 1947 he founded MAGNUM PHOTOS with Robert Capa, George Rodger, David 'Chim' Seymour and William Vandivert.

From 1968 he began to curtail his photographic activities, preferring to concentrate on drawing and painting. In 2003, with his wife and daughter, he created the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson in Paris for the preservation of his work. Cartier-Bresson received an extraordinary number of prizes, awards and honorary doctorates. He died at his home in Provence on 3 August 2004, a few weeks short of his 96th birthday.

Picnic on the Esplanade, by Nan Goldin - 1973

O livro da série 55 da Phaidon sobre Nan Goldin alterou a forma como via a fotografia. Esta é a primeira imagens desse livro e a alegria, naturalidade e prazer que pressinto, juntamente com uma pequena história da imagem (num dos momentos mais felizes da sua vida quando vivia com um grupo de 'drag queens') , transformam-na numa das mais marcantes fotografias que vi. Muitas das pessoas da fotografia morreram devido à SIDA ou a problemas com droga.

"This photograph, among the first Goldin made in colour, shows many of the features that made her one of the first and foremost exponents of the snapshot aesthetic. This Easter picnic by the river in Boston shows Goldin's 'family' at that time, one of the happiest periods in her life. She was living with a group of drag queens, her heroines, and had already amassed a huge body of black-and-white photographs of them. It shows her lifelong obsession with social rituals and the pleasures of communal life. Over time she would lose many people in this group to AIDS and drug addiction"

Two Rear Views of Nudes - by Kishin Shinoyama, 1968

Kishin Shinoyama nasceu em Tóquio em 1930. Filho de um monge Budista, deixou ao seu irmão mais novo a tarefa de se tornar monge do Templo do pai e dedicou-se à fotografia que começou a estudar em 1961. Em 1974 foi o primeiro fotógrafo a revelar as primeiras imagens da tradicional arte de tatuar Japonesa pelo artista Kuniyoshi. Tem uma enorme produção de retratos de nus com perspectivas formalizadas do corpo.

Kishin Shinoyama was born in Toquio in 1930. He is son of a Budist Monge but has dedicated to photography. In 1974 was the first to photograph the tradition on Japonese tatoo of Kuniyoshi. Has an great prodution of nude pictures.

Exposição Daniel Blaufuks

A Exposição "O Arquivo" de Daniel Blaufuks está patente na Galeria Vera Cortês em Lisboa até ao próximo dia 23 de Fevereiro.

Blaufuks ganhou o prémio BES PHOTO em 2006 e o prémio para o Melhor Livro de Fotografia no Photo España 2007. Nos últimos anos tem trabalhado muito sobre o passado da sua família Judia, emigrada da Alemanha para Portugal em 1936.
